Barwa Bank fosters Qatari youth for future careers

Barwa Bank Group, Qatar's fastest growing Shari’ah compliant banking group, is currently hosting a student work experience programme for Commercial Independent Secondary School students, a Qatar Central Bank institution affiliated with the Qatar Foundation. The training programme has 15 Qatari Nationals assigned to different departments across the Barwa Bank Group, and is designed to help prepare young locals for their future careers. Barwa Bank Group is the first bank to host these students who will have an opportunity to interact with employees across the Group, including The First Investor (TFI), First Finance Company (FFC), Barwa Bank Retail Banking division, The Prestige Branch and Marketing department and take part in a range of supervised, practical activities over the next two weeks. They will then receive feed-back on their performance, helping them develop the necessary skills for their undergraduate degree and preparing them for their future careers. Ms. Fawziya Ahmad Falamerzy, Acting Head of HR, Barwa Bank commented on the initiative, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce these young students to the practical world of work at this early stage in their educational lives. They possess both the drive and curiosity to learn which we value most at the Barwa Bank Group. We are committed to hiring the brightest local talents and this programme plays an important role in ensuring that we foster a local talent pool of young bankers and introduce them to our innovative approach to Shari’ah compliant banking.” The first day of the internship begun with an induction about the Barwa Bank Group that introduced the students to the Group’s vision, values, operations and management. The programme will cover several important focus areas, including team work, communication and how to use business tools. On successful completion of the course the students will receive a certificate recognising their achievement.
